Concerns are growing over an increase in deportation proceedings in the United States, with many immigrants reportedly receiving notices to appear in immigration court.

Immigration attorney Naresh Gehi has urged applicants to exercise caution and avoid misconceptions regarding the legal process, warning that court appearances are not limited only to rejected asylum cases.

According to Gehi, individuals may be summoned to immigration court following the denial of various types of immigration applications. He noted that this trend is contributing to a heightened risk of deportation proceedings for many immigrants.

He advised that all immigration filings should be carefully reviewed by experienced and qualified attorneys before submission. Gehi cautioned against relying on unlicensed consultants or paralegals, stating that weak or improperly prepared cases are more likely to be rejected, potentially leading to court proceedings and deportation orders.

He further emphasized that no attorney in the United States can guarantee a case outcome, and applicants should be wary of legal professionals who promise guaranteed success, as final decisions rest with immigration judges.

Explaining the court process, Gehi said that immigration proceedings typically begin with a “Master Calendar Hearing,” during which applicants must be fully prepared with complete and accurate documentation.

Legal experts continue to advise immigrants to seek professional legal guidance and ensure proper case preparation amid evolving immigration enforcement trends in the United States.
