A new four-member ad hoc committee has been approved for Bir Bikram Zainul Abedin High School in Lohagara, Chattogram, to restore momentum in the institution’s administrative activities.

The Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Chattogram, approved the committee for a six-month term. The decision was announced in a letter issued by the education board on September 13, in accordance with directives from the Ministry of Education and relevant provisions of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Chattogram Regulations 2024.

Mohammad Nurul Islam has been nominated by the education board as chairman of the committee. Anju Prabha Barua, nominated by the district education officer, will serve as the teacher representative. Delwar Hossain, nominated by the deputy commissioner/upazila nirbahi officer, will serve as the guardian representative. The school’s head teacher will serve as member secretary by virtue of the office.

The committee will be responsible for keeping the school’s administrative activities functioning smoothly and maintaining a stable academic environment. It is also expected to support improvements in teaching quality, ensure regular classes and help create a more effective learning environment for students.

Mohammad Nurul Islam, chairman of the ad hoc committee, said they would make every effort to properly carry out the responsibilities assigned by the education board.

“Our main goal is to keep the school’s administrative activities running normally, improve the educational environment and ensure quality education for students,” he said. “We want to work for the overall development of the school with the cooperation of teachers, guardians and local residents.”

According to the board’s letter, the ad hoc committee will be authorized to exercise all powers and perform all responsibilities of a regular managing committee under the applicable regulations. However, in line with previous directives from the Ministry of Education, the committee will not have the authority to complete the recruitment process for teachers and other staff.

Stakeholders expect the new committee to accelerate administrative activities and bring positive changes to the school’s educational environment. They also hope greater coordination among teachers, students and guardians will help improve the institution’s overall performance.

The process of forming a regular managing committee is also expected to move forward within the six-month tenure of the ad hoc committee.
