The first weekend of early voting in the 2025 New York City mayoral election saw a record 164,190 voters cast their ballots across the five boroughs. Brooklyn (49,432) and Manhattan (49,191) led the turnout, followed by Queens (38,791), the Bronx (14,225), and Staten Island (12,551).
This turnout more than quadruples the first two days of early voting in 2021, highlighting unprecedented voter engagement ahead of the Nov. 4 general election.
Many voters voiced support for Democratic frontrunner Zohran Mamdani, particularly in traditional Democratic strongholds like Harlem and Morningside Heights. Independent candidate former Governor Andrew Cuomo also drew support for his political experience and opposition to former President Donald Trump, while Republican Curtis Sliwa garnered limited but noticeable backing in certain areas.
Voters praised Mamdani for his vision on affordable housing, social justice, and equity, while Cuomo supporters emphasized his experience and ability to counter federal pressure. Early voting continues daily through Nov. 2 across NYC, with voters casting ballots for mayor, other offices, and ballot propositions.
