BNP holds meeting in New York ahead of Tarique Rahman’s US visit

The New York South unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a meeting in Jackson Heights ahead of BNP leader Tarique Rahman’s scheduled visit to the United States on September 21 to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting was organized at Sanai Restaurant in Jackson Heights. Anwar Hossain Khokon, international affairs secretary of the BNP’s National Executive Committee and organizational coordinator for North and South America, attended as the chief guest.

The meeting was chaired by Habibur Rahman Selim Reza, president of the New York South BNP, while General Secretary Mohammad Badiul Alam moderated the event.

BNP National Executive Committee member and former president of the US BNP Abdul Latif Samrat attended as a special guest. BNP National Executive Committee member and former general secretary of the US BNP Zillur Rahman Zillu was also present, along with leaders and activists from different levels of the organization.

The participants discussed preparations by party leaders and activists, planned programs and organizational matters surrounding Tarique Rahman’s visit.

According to the United Nations, the general debate of the 81st General Assembly is scheduled for September 22–26 and September 28 at UN Headquarters in New York.
