Former Journalist Beni Rae Harmony Joins White House as Assistant Press Secretary

Former journalist Beni Rae Harmony has joined the Trump administration as an Assistant White House Press Secretary, moving from her role as a White House correspondent for Real America’s Voice to the administration’s communications team.

Harmony, 24, announced her appointment on social media on October 2, saying she was grateful to President Donald Trump for the opportunity and his trust. She previously served as a senior White House correspondent for Real America’s Voice, covering the Trump administration and traveling with the president.

Before joining Real America’s Voice, Harmony worked as a news anchor in Springfield, Illinois. She left WICS-ABC20 after being suspended following an emotional on-air tribute to conservative activist Charlie Kirk after his death. She subsequently joined Real America’s Voice in September 2025.

Her appointment comes as the White House communications operation undergoes changes following Karoline Leavitt’s departure as press secretary. Harmony’s move from covering the White House to working for the administration marks a transition from journalism to government communications.

White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly welcomed Harmony to the team, describing her as a trusted voice and saying she would be an addition to President Trump’s communications operation.

Harmony has already been a familiar presence in the White House press pool, including accompanying Trump on recent presidential trips. Her appointment further expands the administration’s communications team with a former White House reporter who has closely covered the president and his administration.
