Trump’s Childhood Home Sells for $1.93 Million
The childhood home of President Donald Trump in Queens has sold for $1.93 million following an extensive renovation that transformed the once-neglected property into a modern residence.
Trump lived in the Tudor-style home in the Jamaica Estates neighborhood until he was 4 years old. His father, real estate developer Fred Trump, built the five-bedroom, three-bathroom house in 1940.
The property was purchased last year by developer Tommy Lin for $835,000 after remaining vacant and falling into disrepair. Lin reportedly spent about $500,000 on an eight-month renovation that included a chef’s kitchen, herringbone wood floors and spa-style bathrooms.
The latest sale price appeared on real estate websites Friday after an undisclosed buyer entered into a contract in July.
The home has changed hands several times in recent years. It sold for $2.14 million in 2017, shortly after Trump became president, according to Zillow. The property was later listed for $2.9 million in 2019 but remained unsold.
During the period when the house was vacant, it reportedly suffered water damage and mold caused by a burst pipe, while feral cats occupied parts of the property.
The home was also previously operated as a short-term rental, featuring Trump memorabilia, including cardboard cutouts of the president and copies of his book, “The Art of the Deal.”
