NYC Housing Lottery Offers $0 Rent for Eligible Seniors in the Bronx
A new affordable housing lottery in the Bronx is offering $0 rent for qualifying residents, according to a listing on NYC Housing Connect. The development, Crotona Belmont Senior Housing, is now accepting applications for more than 90 studio and one-bedroom units designed for older New Yorkers.
The property emphasizes stability and long-term rental support. In addition to subsidized rents, the building offers amenities such as a fitness center, community rooms, outdoor spaces, patios, and balconies. It is located near parks, schools, and public transportation, including the 2, 5, B, and D subway lines.
Who Qualifies for $0 Rent?
- To receive a completely subsidized unit, applicants must meet several key requirements:
- At least one household member must be 62 or older
- The household must include one or two people
- The household must have no income
- The applicant must qualify for Section 8 housing
Applicants with an income may still apply, but they will not receive free rent. The maximum eligible household income is $87,480, depending on household size.
The lottery is part of New York City’s ongoing effort to expand affordable housing options for seniors, particularly those with limited financial resources.
