Enzo misses out as Argentina announce 31-man preliminary squad

World champions Argentina on Monday revealed a 31-member preliminary squad for the final matches of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in the South American region.

Lionel Scaloni’s side will face Venezuela on 5th September and Ecuador on 10th September in the last two rounds of qualifying.

Midfielder Enzo Fernandez was notably left out of the squad after receiving a red card in Argentina’s previous match against Colombia in June.

Currently topping the CONMEBOL standings with 35 points from 16 matches, Argentina have already secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
