Israel advises citizens to avoid Bangladesh over ‘high risk’
Israel has advised its citizens to avoid travelling to Bangladesh, citing a high level of risk, as the country’s National Security Council (NSC) issued a global terror threat warning for Israelis and Jews ahead of the High Holy Days.
The NSC said Iran and its proxies remain the leading global terror threat to Israelis and Jews abroad, while anti-Israel rhetoric and incitement have increased the risk of attacks.
Bangladesh was among several countries that the NSC specifically advised Israelis to avoid due to the high level of risk. Other countries on the list include Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya and Algeria.
The warning comes as the Jewish High Holy Days approach, with the NSC cautioning that the upcoming anniversary of the 7 October Hamas attack could increase tensions and the risk of terror attacks and violent protests.
The NSC also urged Israelis abroad to avoid displaying prominent Israeli or Jewish symbols, stay away from protests and political confrontations, and exercise caution around Jewish gathering places.
It said Israelis should also avoid sharing their real-time locations on social media and remain vigilant while travelling overseas.
