Prime Minister assures steps to resolve gas crisis in industrial sector
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assured business leaders that the government will take steps to address the ongoing gas crisis affecting the country’s industrial sector.
The assurance was conveyed during a meeting with the Prime Minister at the Secretariat on Wednesday (29 July), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) President Showkat Aziz Russell told reporters after the meeting.
The BTMA president alleged that the gas shortage in the industrial sector had resulted from the failure to take timely policy decisions.
He said the prime minister was making efforts to understand the challenges facing the textile industry and that entrepreneurs were encouraged by the government’s sincerity in resolving the sector’s problems.
Showkat Aziz Russell also said the government had asked entrepreneurs to submit reports identifying the level of support required by factories that have either been completely shut down or are operating at reduced capacity due to the gas crisis.
