The 32nd annual picnic of the YOLO Society, one of North America’s prominent professional expatriate organizations, was held at Hoxsie State Park in Long Island, New York. Under the theme “Unity and Culture Among Expatriates,” hundreds of Bangladeshi expatriates took part in the vibrant event.
The picnic turned into a joyful reunion with attendees arriving with their families, friends, and reconnecting with old acquaintances after a long time. The all-day event featured lively sports competitions, raffle draws, cultural programs, and concerts.
Renowned expatriate artists Rozio Azad, Amit Kumar De, and Tanvir Shahin performed songs that mesmerized the audience. The event also saw the debut of a new initiative called “Shomproti 12.”
YOLO Society President Mr. Md. Masud Rana said, “This picnic is not just a recreational gathering; it is a vital occasion to celebrate our unity and culture abroad.”
General Secretary Shahidul Haque Roshan added, “There may have been some shortcomings, but this success is the result of the collective effort of all members, subcommittees, and sponsors.”
Convener Shamim Gafur expressed pride in leading the event for the first time and emphasized that such events strengthen the bonds among expatriates.
Founded in 1994 in New York, YOLO Society has been fostering social cohesion and cultural heritage among Bangladeshis living abroad for over three decades.
