The Jamaica Bangladesh Friends Society Inc., one of the most active Bangladeshi community organizations in New York, hosted its annual Community Barbecue on August 4, 2025. The day-long event was held at Cunningham Park in Fresh Meadows, drawing a large and enthusiastic crowd of Bangladeshi expatriates and friends.

From noon until 7 PM, the park transformed into a festive ground, filled with the aroma of delicious food, the laughter of children, and the sound of cultural music. Attendees included a wide range of individuals from the Bangladeshi-American community, including professionals, families, community leaders, and members of the Bangladesh Society.

Special guests at the event included U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, and several other elected officials and public servants from the mainstream political and administrative sphere. They praised the community’s efforts to foster unity, culture, and social engagement through such inclusive initiatives.

The barbecue featured a variety of traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, fun games and entertainment for children, live cultural performances, and a highly anticipated raffle draw. Winners received exciting prizes such as laptops, smartwatches, and headphones.

Popular singers Shah Mahbub, Marium Maria, and Nipa Zaman captivated the audience with their lively musical performances, adding to the festive spirit of the day.

In his remarks, Fakhrul Islam Delwar, President of Jamaica Bangladesh Friends Society, expressed heartfelt thanks to all guests, volunteers, and participants.
