USA BNP Observes November 7 National Revolution and Solidarity Day in New York
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) USA chapter and its affiliated organizations organized a discussion meeting in observance of the historic November 7 National Revolution and Solidarity Day in New York. The event was held on Sunday (November 9) at 7 PM at Nobanno Chinese Restaurant in Jackson Heights, where party leaders and community members gathered to commemorate the day.
The meeting was presided over by Alhaj Solaiman Bhuiyan, former Vice President of BNP-USA, and jointly conducted by Anwarul Islam Anwar, former Senior Joint Secretary of BNP-USA, and Motahar Hossain, former General Secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Forum USA.
Among the speakers were former BNP-USA Vice Presidents Niaz Ahmed Jewel and Shamsul Islam Monju, former Joint Secretary Zahirul Islam Bhuiyan, International Affairs Secretary of the Volunteer Wing Maksudul Hoque Chowdhury, Abul Bashar Khairul, Nasim Ahmed, Engineer Abdul Khalek, ATM Helalur Rahman, Sohrabardi Jahangir, Mostak Ahmed, Abul Kalam, Yusuf Ali, Saiful Islam, Mirza Azam, Azizul Bari Titas, Advocate Rezwana Razzak Setu, Advocate Shahnaz Parvin Josna, and Youth Wing Leader Mashiur Rahman Rubel, among others.
Speakers emphasized that BNP leaders and activists at all levels will stand united with the people to resist any conspiracy against the upcoming national election. Many of them also appealed to BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to form a coordination committee for the party’s U.S. chapter.
They recalled that Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of Bangladesh’s independence, had laid the foundation for a modern and self-reliant Bangladesh after 1975 but was assassinated through what they described as a foreign conspiracy. They noted that under Begum Khaleda Zia’s leadership, efforts were made to restore democracy and rebuild the nation, but in the past 16 years, the country has suffered from authoritarian rule and suppression of democracy.
Speakers further stated that under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, BNP’s recent movements have already pushed the ruling autocrats toward the exit path of power. They expressed confidence that in the upcoming free and fair election in February, the people of Bangladesh will vote for BNP and give Tarique Rahman the opportunity to lead the nation.
