US Reassures India Amid Strengthened Ties with Pakistan

27 October, 2025, 6:32 am

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that America’s growing partnership with Pakistan will not harm its longstanding relationship with India. Speaking to reporters en route to Qatar, Rubio described the warming US-Pakistan relations as “encouraging” and part of a broader strategic effort by the Trump administration.

Acknowledging historical tensions between India and Pakistan, Rubio urged New Delhi to approach the situation with maturity. He stressed that maintaining multiple relationships in South Asia is a standard aspect of pragmatic foreign policy and that the US-India partnership remains strong and historic.

The reassurances coincide with recent US-Pakistan initiatives, including a critical minerals agreement and counter-terrorism dialogues. Rubio also commented on ongoing US-India energy discussions, noting India’s interest in diversifying oil sources, potentially increasing energy imports from the United States.

This development reflects Washington’s careful balancing act in South Asia—deepening strategic ties with Pakistan while preserving its core alliance with India.
