The injured are currently receiving treatment in hospital.

The deceased were identified as Md Hiramon (60) from Koroibari village, Muradnagar, Cumilla and his son Nazmul Robel (30). Another deceased was Fahim Alim (27), a friend of Nazmul. All three were residents of Loudonville, New York.

According to sources from the New York Bangladeshi community, all of them had gone out for a drive in a private car on Monday evening. Nazmul Robel was driving when, on Route 9-H at Van Wyck Lane, the car lost control, crossed the centre line, and collided head-on with a Toyota Crown coming from the opposite direction. Four people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Razia Begum stated that the funeral prayers for the deceased will be held on Wednesday, after the Zuhr prayer, at the Baitul Aman Islamic Center (2351 Avenue, Bronx, New York). They will then be buried at Marlboro Muslim Cemetery in New Jersey.

She sought prayers for the departed souls from all.
