New York City – Thousands of nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian could return to work next week after their union and the hospital system reached a tentative agreement to end a month-and-a-half-long strike. The New York State Nurses Association said approximately 4,200 members are covered by the deal, which will be voted on for ratification over the weekend. If approved, nurses are expected to resume work next week.

Meanwhile, New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins has formed a working group to push Governor Kathy Hochul on further ICE reforms. Although Hochul has expressed support for limiting state coordination with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, lawmakers and advocates are urging stronger measures, similar to New York City’s sanctuary policies, to restrict information sharing between state, local, and federal authorities.

Governor Hochul traveled to Washington, D.C. Thursday to attend the National Governors Association meeting, an event recently clouded by controversy after former President Donald Trump uninvited two Democratic governors from a White House dinner.

Across the nation, U.S. figure skater Alysa Liu won America’s first women’s Olympic gold in figure skating in 24 years, while President Trump announced a $10 billion investment in the Board of Peace to rebuild Gaza. In the U.K., Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested over alleged misconduct tied to Jeffrey Epstein.
