The annual general meeting and election of the Bogura Society USA Inc., an organization representing expatriates from Bogura residing in New York, was held on 29 june in a festive atmosphere at Khalil Biryani House in Jamaica. The event saw a significant turnout of members and notable figures. Md. Saiful Islam was elected as the new president, while Khademul Islam Rubel became the general secretary.
The meeting was presided over by outgoing president Mohabbat Ali Akand and conducted by then-secretary Md. Saiful Islam. The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Freedom Fighter Dr. Shahjahan Bir. Former Member of Parliament and trustee board member Saifur Rahman Bhandari Raj delivered a welcome address, emphasizing the importance of preserving Bogura’s heritage and culture abroad.
Speeches were also delivered by Trustee Board Chairman Golam Mostafa Babu Paikar, and members Raisul Haque, Ali Syed Tipu, Shah Afzal Hossain, Abdul Mannan, Azizul Haque Munna, North Bengal Foundation President and trustee board member Rafel Talukdar, former president Ataurul Alam, and advisory board members Tarikul Hasan Mohabbat, Saiful Islam Manna, Mohammad Ali, Murtaza Ali Bulbul, and Mostafa Alamgir. They emphasized future plans, strengthening internal bonds, and engaging in community welfare.
The key highlight of the event was the executive committee election, conducted under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Zakirul Islam, with assistance from Md. Saiful Islam (Queens) and Kazi Azad Rahman Selim. The election was praised for being fair and transparent, resulting in a dynamic committee blending experience and fresh energy.

Additionally, a number of advisory and hospitality members were elected, including Mohabbat Ali Akand, Md. The newly formed committee is expected to further enrich the cultural and social presence of the Bogura community in the U.S. The election marks the beginning of a new chapter in the organization’s history, aiming to make it more dynamic and effective.
In his closing remarks, President-elect Saiful Islam expressed commitment to unity, cooperation, and proactive community service. The event concluded with a formal dinner for the guests and participants.
