Reception Held in New York Honoring Shah Nawaz After Being Elected First Vice District Governor of Lions International
A special celebratory evening was held in New York to honor Shah Nawaz after being elected as First Vice District Governor of Lions International. Shah Nawaz is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bangladesh Society and President and CEO of Golden Age Home Care.

The event was organized by the North America Expatriate Bangladeshi Alliance and held on Monday, May 11, 2025, at Queens Palace in New York.
Community leaders, journalists, and prominent members of the Bangladeshi-American community attended the event to congratulate Lion Shah Nawaz on his new leadership role within Lions International.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and later featured cake cutting, informal discussions, reminiscences, and cultural performances. Representatives from various organizations presented flowers, crests, and gifts to Lion Shah Nawaz in recognition of his achievement and community contributions.
Speaking at the event, Shah Nawaz thanked attendees for their support and affection.
“We are deeply touched by your love and appreciation. We will always remember this support. Your recognition of our family, institution, and work is a matter of pride for us,” he said.
He also stressed the importance of unity within the expatriate Bangladeshi community, saying that although competition may exist abroad, unity—not hostility—is the true strength of the community.
Rano Nawaz, wife of Shah Nawaz, said the overwhelming attendance within a short period of notice reflected the strong bond and affection among members of the Bangladeshi diaspora community.
Speakers at the event said the election of a humanitarian and community-focused individual like Shah Nawaz as First Vice District Governor of Lions International is not only a personal milestone but also a proud achievement for the wider Bangladeshi community in the United States.
