A 25-member delegation from the North Bangla Press Club UK was warmly received at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday, following an invitation from Foysol Choudhury MBE MSP, the only Bangladeshi-origin Member of the Scottish Parliament.

During the visit, the delegation took part in a special meeting with Foysol Choudhury inside the parliamentary chamber. Scottish Labour Party Leader Anas Sarwar MSP also attended the event. As a mark of appreciation, Choudhury presented the delegation with a crest on behalf of the Scottish Parliament, recognizing their contribution to community journalism and diaspora engagement.

The delegation was led by Club President Fakhrul Hussain, alongside Vice President Golam Akbar Chowdhury, Secretary General Nurul Amin Tarek, and Treasurer Mahmud Hasan Milon. Other notable attendees included journalist Sawar Hossain, NRD CEO Nazirul Islam Khan, and several UK-based community leaders and media professionals.

In addition to attending a live parliamentary session, the delegates toured key historical sites within the parliament building. MSP Choudhury emphasized the importance of the Bangladeshi diaspora’s growing role in British public life, saying, “Our community continues to rise through honesty, hard work, and commitment. We must keep moving forward with unity and purpose.”

The visit is being hailed as a milestone in strengthening cultural and civic ties between Scotland and the UK-based Bangladeshi media community.
