‘No Kings’ Anti-Trump Protests to Sweep New York and New Jersey on October 18
A wave of anti-Trump demonstrations under the banner “No Kings Day” is set to take place across the United States this weekend, with major rallies planned in New York City, New Jersey, and Long Island on Saturday, October 18.
The protests, organized by the 50501 Movement, are being described as a “nationwide day of defiance” to oppose what organizers call the authoritarian and elitist policies of President Donald Trump’s administration.
According to the schedule, demonstrations in New York City will be held at several locations — including Broadway & West 47th Street in Manhattan, Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, Queens Boulevard, and Victory Boulevard in Staten Island. In New Jersey, rallies are planned in Newark, Jersey City, Weehawken, Guttenberg, and Bloomfield. Long Island will also host similar events in Babylon, Port Jefferson, and Wading River.
Thousands of protesters are expected to take to the streets, carrying signs promoting democracy and equality. The demonstrations are part of a broader movement involving participants from all 50 states, aiming to “reject kingship-style leadership and defend democratic values.”
Earlier this year, similar “No Kings” events drew large crowds in cities like Detroit and Los Angeles, reflecting growing frustration among citizens who accuse the Trump administration of concentrating power and eroding democratic norms.
Organizers say all gatherings will be peaceful and nonviolent, emphasizing unity and civic responsibility.
