Mass Shooting at Brooklyn Restaurant: At Least 3 Dead

At least three people have been killed and eight others injured in a mass shooting at a restaurant in Brooklyn, New York City. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 17 at Taste of the City Lounge, located at 903 Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood. Police reported recovering at least 36 shell casings at the scene.

All three victims were male, aged 27, 35, and one unknown. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, though their current conditions have not yet been disclosed.

Authorities are still investigating the incident and have not yet identified any suspects. A video from the scene shows investigators working inside the restaurant, with blood on the floor and shattered glass scattered throughout.

New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the shooting as “horrific” and “senseless”, noting that overall, shooting incidents and gun injuries in the city have been at historic lows in 2025. As of early August, the NYPD had recorded 412 shootings and 489 gunshot victims so far this year.
