New York Minimum Wage to Rise in 2026

17 December, 2025, 7:10 am

New York workers will see a pay increase starting January 1, 2026, as the state raises its minimum wage. In New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County, the minimum wage will rise to $17 per hour, while the rest of the state will see a $16 per hour minimum.

Tipped food service workers will also benefit from higher wages. In NYC, Long Island, and Westchester, the cash wage for these workers will increase from $11 to $11.35 per hour, with overtime pay rising from $19.25 to $19.85 and the tip credit increasing from $5.50 to $5.65. For the rest of the state, cash wages for tipped workers will go from $10.35 to $10.70, overtime pay from $18.10 to $18.70, and the tip credit from $5.15 to $5.30. The changes do not apply to delivery workers.

The adjustment is part of a broader effort to align wages with living costs and ensure fair compensation for employees across the state.
