Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Midtown Manhattan on Sunday to protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions and to demand justice following the controversial death of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. The rallies come amid nationwide outrage over Good’s shooting earlier this month during an ICE enforcement operation in Minneapolis.

Protesters marched peacefully down Fifth Avenue, carrying signs and chanting slogans calling for an end to ICE operations and broader changes to federal immigration policy. Many participants connected their protests not only to Good’s death but also to wider concerns about immigration enforcement under the current presidential administration.

Good, a mother of three, was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on January 7, sparking protests across multiple U.S. cities, including New York, as activists demanded accountability and a halt to aggressive enforcement measures. The incident has drawn national scrutiny, with demonstrators accusing federal authorities of excessive force and calling for federal deportation operations to be scaled back or ended.

Speakers at Sunday’s rally criticized ICE’s practice of detaining nonviolent immigrants and highlighted broader concerns about community safety and civil rights. Some protest leaders said they saw Good’s death as part of systemic issues in immigration enforcement and federal policing.

While many of the Manhattan demonstrations remained peaceful, turnout in New York reflected a growing wave of activism triggered by the Minneapolis shooting and expanding nationwide protests against ICE. Organizers say they plan additional actions in the coming days to keep pressure on policymakers and federal law enforcement agencies.

No arrests were reported during the New York City demonstration on Sunday.
