The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed at 19 fuel depots across the country to prevent hoarding, maintain discipline in fuel distribution, and ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products.

The information was disclosed in a press release issued on Saturday (28 March), signed by BGB Headquarters’ Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam.

According to the statement, in the context of the ongoing Middle East crisis, rising global fuel prices and supply shortages have led to attempts at unauthorized hoarding. To prevent such activities, maintain order in fuel marketing, and ensure continuous supply, the deployment has been carried out under the directive of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The release further said that the deployment is being conducted under a well-planned framework supervised by BGB Headquarters to ensure depot security. For operational convenience in remote areas, temporary base camps have been established at secure locations where BGB personnel are carrying out their duties.

Since the morning of March 25, BGB has been deployed at a total of 19 depots in nine districts—one in Dhaka, two in Kurigram, three in Rangpur, three in Rajshahi, two in Sylhet, three in Moulvibazar, three in Cumilla, one in Brahmanbaria, and one in Sunamganj.

The deployed personnel, led by an officer at each temporary base camp, are conducting regular monitoring and strictly enforcing administrative and security measures. They are also strengthening intelligence surveillance, preventing illegal fuel hoarding and sales, and taking prompt action to avert any sabotage.

BGB members are maintaining close coordination and communication with depot authorities to ensure quick information exchange. Their visible presence in depot areas is helping keep fuel supply normal and boosting public confidence.
