Bengali Writers and Artists to Shine at Canada Literature Festival in Mississauga

Mississauga, Ontario, will host the Canada Literature Festival from October 3 to 5 at Celebration Square and City Hall, bringing together prominent mainstream and multilingual writers for a three-day celebration of literature.

As part of the festival, 17 Bengali writers and artists will present a special program on Saturday, October 4, from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Mississauga City Hall. Participating writers include Syed Iqbal, Akbar Hossain, Sudhir Saha, Subrata Kumar Das, Rumana Chowdhury, Niranjan Roy, Shekhar Gomez, Roksana Parveen, Sujit Kusum Pal, Shreysi Bose Dutta, Mom Kazi, and Jamil Bil Khalil.

The Bengali segment will feature four sessions: “Bengali Writers in Canada,” “Poetry Reading by Bengali Poets,” “Canada’s Literature for Bengalis,” and “Challenges for Immigrant Writers.” These sessions will be moderated by Samina Chowdhury, Chayan Das, Tasmina Khan, and Jannatul Naeem.

The program will conclude with Rabindra Sangeet performed by renowned artist Dr. Momtaz Momta, and the session will be hosted by Subrata Kumar Das.

Festival organizers have invited all literature enthusiasts from Mississauga and neighboring cities to attend and support Bengali writers in promoting language and literary culture abroad. The event is open to the public.
