Bank of America Outage Disrupts Thousands of Customers Nationwide
A widespread technical issue at Bank of America left thousands of customers unable to access account information or complete transactions on Friday. According to Downdetector, reports of problems surged past 3,000, with the outage beginning around 7:17 pm EST, affecting users across major U.S. cities including Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
Customers reported that mobile apps were showing outdated balances and that debit and credit card transactions were failing. Many also faced difficulties using Zelle and transferring funds between accounts. The bank displayed an error message stating, “Temporarily unable to display some accounts and/or latest balances,” assuring users that technicians were working to resolve the issue.
The disruption highlighted the growing dependence on digital banking services, as many individuals were left frustrated and unable to access real-time financial data. While customer service lines were overwhelmed with inquiries, the problem stemmed from the bank’s internal systems, meaning individual troubleshooting could not fix the issue.
Bank of America has not yet provided a full timeline for restoring all services but confirmed that efforts are ongoing to resolve the outage as quickly as possible.
