‘Banglar Mela’ in New York Celebrates Patriotism and Culture

The spirit of patriotism, culture, and heritage of Bangladesh was beautifully showcased at the vibrant event ‘Banglar Mela’ in New York. Organized by the New York-based group NY Bangla Inc, the cultural gathering was held on the evening of July 21 (Monday) at the Queens Palace auditorium.

The program began with a moment of silence and deep condolences for the children and teachers who tragically lost their lives in a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash in Uttara, Dhaka. Organizers stated that while the tragedy deeply saddened everyone, the event proceeded as scheduled due to prior commitments and finalized artist schedules.

The event witnessed a remarkable turnout from the Bangladeshi diaspora along with people from various walks of life. The active participation of young attendees added vibrant energy to the evening.

One of the main highlights was the live music performances by both expatriate and Bangladeshi artists, creating a festive and emotional atmosphere.

Popular Bangladeshi singers such as Rizia Parveen, Kamruzzaman Babu, Kala Mia, Enia, Shah Mahbub, and Rozio Azad performed at the event. The program was emceed by Mia Mohammad Dulal and Sonia.

Among the distinguished guests were businessman Abdur Rashid Babu, community activists Fahad Solaiman, Nayeem, Duke Khan, entrepreneurs Jhona, and Monique Roy Chowdhury, among others.

Shafique Mia, a key organizer from NY Bangla Inc, remarked, “An event like this is only possible through everyone’s combined efforts. Even though we live abroad, we strive to preserve our culture and heritage. This event is a reflection of that commitment.”
