American Bangladeshi Welfare Organization USA Holds Inauguration of Newly Elected Committee in Bronx

The American Bangladeshi Welfare Organization USA celebrated the inauguration of its newly elected 2025 committee in a grand ceremony held on Monday, November 24, at the Golden Palace Hall, Stralin Banglabazar in the Bronx. The event saw a vibrant turnout of Bangladeshi expatriates.

The ceremony was presided over by the organization’s newly elected president, Abdus Shahid, and conducted jointly by General Secretary Jamal Hossain and Joint Secretary Reza Abdullah. The program included prayers, seating of guests, oath-taking of the new committee members, presentation of honor crests, cultural performances, and a dinner reception. The organizing committee, led by Convener Sohan Ahmed Tutul, Chief Coordinator Sheikh Shafiqul Rahman, and Member Secretary Kazi Robiuzzaman, ensured smooth execution of the event.

Attorney Moin Chowdhury attended as the chief guest, alongside notable figures from the Bangladeshi community, including NY State Senator Nathalia Fernandez, Abdul Muhit, Sirajuddin Ahmed Sohag, Shamim Ahmed, Mahbubul Alam, Rokon Hakim, CPA Zakir Chowdhury, Tofayel Chowdhury, Saidur Rahman Lincoln, Farida Yasmin, Bir Muktijoddha Tofayel Ahmed Chowdhury, Hasan Ali, and Sabbir Ahmed.

Prayers were led by Md. Jalal Chowdhury, followed by the national anthems of Bangladesh and the United States, and a moment of silence in remembrance of martyrs. The newly elected committee members took their oath under the guidance of Attorney Moin Chowdhury.

Several community members were recognized with honor crests for their outstanding contributions to social service. The evening’s second half featured enchanting cultural performances by Nilima Shashi, a CloseUp star artist, and Bronx-based popular singer Sharmin Tania, whose performances engaged the audience in lively singing and dancing.

The event highlighted the organization’s commitment to community welfare while celebrating Bangladeshi culture in the diaspora.
