The Al Amin Madrasa in Astoria has held its annual summer closing ceremony, featuring Qur’an recitation competitions, Hamd, Na’at-e-Rasul and prayer demonstrations.

The event, held on 24 August, brought together students from the first level to sixth grade, along with Hifz-level learners. Parents said they were impressed by the performances, which included recitations and practice of Jummah, Janazah and Eid prayers.

Several community leaders addressed the gathering, while outstanding students were awarded medals, certificates and prayer mats. Twenty-three students who took part in outdoor activities during the summer also received recognition.

Principal and Imam Hafiz Mawlana Lutfur Rahman Chowdhury urged parents to ensure children receive religious education alongside school studies. He said Islamic values would help young people grow into moral citizens in a multicultural society.

The ceremony ended with a communal lunch.
