Border Patrol Agent Sentenced to One Year in Prison for Abusing Immigrants

A U.S. Border Patrol agent working in Upstate New York has been sentenced to one year in federal prison for coercing immigrant women to expose their breasts. The verdict was delivered by the court on Wednesday, August 27.

The convicted agent, Shane Milan (53), had pleaded guilty in March of this year to the charges brought against him. According to court documents, in 2023 he gave inappropriate orders via webcam to four immigrant women who had crossed the southern border into the United States. He forced three women to expose their breasts directly and another to reveal herself while wearing a bra.

Milan misled the women by claiming that the acts were part of the U.S. entry process. However, the investigation confirmed that his actions were for personal sexual gratification. He even used government computers to translate sexually suggestive sentences into Spanish to communicate with the victims.

U.S. Attorney John Sarcone said in a statement: “Everyone deserves dignity. The sexual exploitation of immigrants by law enforcement officials will not be tolerated. No one is above the law.”

Milan was convicted on two federal misdemeanor counts of “deprivation of rights under color of law.”
