U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-2026 rankings of the nation’s best high schools feature several schools from New York and New Jersey among the top 100. College readiness, graduation rates, and state test performance were key factors in the evaluation.

61st: High School of American Studies at Lehman College (Bronx)
67th: Brooklyn Latin School (Brooklyn)
71st: Brooklyn Technical High School (Brooklyn)
Top New Jersey Schools

27th: High Technology High School, Lincroft
41st: Bergen County Academies, Hackensack
59th: Edison Academy Magnet School, Edison

New Jersey schools were especially well-represented, with 40% ranking in the top quarter nationally. Queens High School for the Sciences and High School Math Science and Engineering both reported 100% graduation rates. The national top spot went to BASIS Tucson North in Arizona.
