U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-2026 rankings of the nation’s best high schools feature several schools from New York and New Jersey among the top 100. College readiness, graduation rates, and state test performance were key factors in the evaluation.

25th: Queens High School for the Sciences at York College (Queens)

26th: High School Math Science and Engineering at CCNY (Manhattan)

33rd: Stuyvesant High School (Manhattan)

47th: Staten Island Technical High School (Staten Island)

50th: Bronx High School of Science (Bronx)

61st: High School of American Studies at Lehman College (Bronx)

67th: Brooklyn Latin School (Brooklyn)

71st: Brooklyn Technical High School (Brooklyn)

Top New Jersey Schools

Top U.S. High Schools Include Several in New Jersey

27th: High Technology High School, Lincroft

41st: Bergen County Academies, Hackensack

59th: Edison Academy Magnet School, Edison

77th: Dr. Ronald E. McNair High School, Jersey City

79th: Union County Magnet High School, Scotch Plains

80th: Biotechnology High School, Monmouth County

82nd: Bergen County Technical High School – Teterboro

90th: Woodbridge Academy Magnet School, Woodbridge

94th: Academy for Information Technology, Union County

New Jersey schools were especially well-represented, with 40% ranking in the top quarter nationally. Queens High School for the Sciences and High School Math Science and Engineering both reported 100% graduation rates. The national top spot went to BASIS Tucson North in Arizona.
