Kunu-Firoz panel holds meeting in Ozone Park, forms election committee

The Kunu-Firoz panel held an exchange meeting with Bangladeshi community members in Ozone Park, New York, ahead of the Bangladesh Society of New York election.

The meeting was held Monday, September 14, at Daruchini Restaurant in Ozone Park. Leaders of the panel discussed the upcoming election and various community issues with local Bangladeshi residents.

Speakers said Bangladesh Society is an important social organization for Bangladeshi immigrants in New York and emphasized active participation from community members to make its activities more dynamic, transparent and focused on public welfare.

They also highlighted the need to engage the younger generation in community activities, expand social and cultural programs and play a more effective role in addressing the concerns of Bangladeshi immigrants. They expressed their commitment to maintaining the organization’s traditions and credibility while establishing capable leadership through the election.

At the meeting, the Ozone Park Election Management Committee was announced. Zakir H. Chowdhury will serve as chief adviser, Shamchul Abedin as chairman, Fakhrul Islam as convener, Mirza Mohammad Hossain as member secretary, Abdul Wadud as chief coordinator and Advocate Ariful Haque Chowdhury as finance chairman.

Nasim Ahmed will serve as co-chairman. Joint member secretaries are Rafiq Bahar, Al Mamun Sabuj, Md. Monir Uddin, Md. Moin Uddin, Enamul Islam and Saddam Hossain. Farhad Mridha and Nazrul Islam Khan will handle media and communications.

Community leaders and members from Ozone Park and surrounding areas attended the meeting and exchanged views with Kunu-Firoz panel leaders on the Bangladesh Society election, its future activities and various community expectations.
