New York to Host First-Ever South Asian Unity Parade on August 9

The first-ever South Asian Unity Parade will be held in Jackson Heights, Queens, on August 9, bringing together South Asian communities to celebrate cultural diversity, unity, and shared heritage.

The announcement was made during a press conference held Tuesday evening at Gulshan Terrace in Woodside, Queens.

Organizers said the parade will feature participants from the Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani, Nepali, Sri Lankan, Bhutanese, and other South Asian communities. The event aims to strengthen cultural ties, promote mutual understanding, and celebrate the rich diversity of South Asia within New York City’s multicultural landscape.

Community organizations, cultural groups, business leaders, professionals, and local community representatives are expected to take part. Participants will showcase their countries’ traditions through colorful attire, music, dance, and cultural performances.

Speakers at the press conference described the initiative as an important step toward fostering greater unity and cooperation among South Asian communities in New York.

Organizers invited residents from all communities to attend the August 9 parade in Jackson Heights and join in celebrating the region’s diverse cultural heritage.
