Body of Bangladeshi Student Brishti Recovered in Florida
The body of Bangladeshi student Nahida Sultana Brishti, who was killed in Florida, has been recovered, according to Bangladesh Embassy officials in Washington.
Authorities from a Florida police department confirmed to Brishti’s brother by phone that the second body recovered was identified as hers. Her family has requested assistance in sending the body back to Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, D.C., said on Friday that arrangements are being made through the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami to repatriate Brishti’s remains.
Meanwhile, the body of Jamil Ahmed Limon will be sent to Bangladesh from Orlando International Airport in Florida on May 2. His remains are expected to arrive in Dhaka via Dubai on May 4.
Limon’s body was recovered by police on April 24 after he had been missing for nearly 10 days.
He was pursuing a PhD in Geography, Environment, and Policy at the University of South Florida. On the same day, fellow Bangladeshi PhD student Nahida Sultana Brishti also went missing.
Police later recovered parts of Brishti’s body from a water body near Interstate 275 and Fourth Street North in Florida. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
