Even in the Grief of Her Granddaughter’s Death, Kazi Fouzia Didn’t Forget Mamdani—Urges People to Vote through a Virtual Message
Despite mourning the untimely death of her little granddaughter, Kazi Fouzia, Director of Desi Rising Up and Motivation (DRUM) and a well-known human rights activist, has not forgotten her people or her beloved city, New York. Currently in Bangladesh, she sent out a heartfelt virtual message urging everyone to vote for Zohran Mamdani, the candidate for New York City Mayor.
In her message, Kazi Fouzia said, “Trump may attempt to block federal funds, but such actions won’t succeed. We are a donor state — if we choose, we can legally withhold our tax payments.”
She further added, “Sometimes in life, we get only one chance. This is our moment to act. I have already cast my vote. I urge all of you to vote for Mamdani and ensure his victory. Don’t let Trump’s baseless fear make you doubtful.”
Kazi Fouzia believes that Mamdani’s victory would not just mark an electoral success but would stand as a strong response against the unjust policies of the current administration — a symbolic slap in the face of oppression.
She emphasized, “We are about to make history before the eyes of the world. To make our city more affordable, humane, and inclusive, Zohran Mamdani’s victory is crucial.”
Even in her personal loss, Kazi Fouzia’s message reflects her unwavering commitment to justice, community, and humanity — proving once again that the call for people’s rights and empowerment never fades, not even in times of grief.
