The largest organization of Bangladeshi expatriates in the United States, Bangladesh Society will celebrate its Golden Jubilee on November 2 in New York. Details of the event were shared at a press conference held on September 11 at the Nabanno Party Center in Jackson Heights, where General Secretary Mohammad Ali outlined the program.

The jubilee will be hosted at Terrace on the Park, a prominent venue in New York. The event will include a memorial session, special prayers, a blood donation campaign, and discussions with community leaders. The main program will feature a reception for freedom fighters, a seminar, cultural performances by the younger generation, a heritage exhibition, and recognition of distinguished expatriates for their contributions. A commemorative publication will also be released, documenting the Society’s 50-year journey, struggles, and achievements.

Society President Ataur Rahman Selim emphasized that the current executive committee is committed to establishing the Bangladesh Center as a permanent hub for the diaspora. “Once realized, it will be a lasting address for the new generation, helping them stay connected to culture, heritage, and their Bangladeshi identity,” he said.

Speakers at the event noted that the Bangladesh Society is not merely an organization but a symbol of unity and cultural identity for Bangladeshi expatriates. Over the decades, the Society has stood by the diaspora during crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic, and extended support to disaster victims in Bangladesh. They stressed that the Golden Jubilee is both a celebration of the past and a roadmap for the future.

The press conference was attended by Trustee Board Chairman Shah Newaz, Vice President Mohiuddin Dewan, former Trustee Board Chairman Mohammad Aziz, and former President Dr. Wadud Bhuiyan, among others. Prominent community figures including Moinul Islam Mia, Dr. Hamiduzzaman, Abdur Rahim Hawlader, Fakhrul Alam, Azimur Rahman Burhan, Kazi Azam, Ahsan Habib, Mahbub Talukder, Kamruzzaman Kamrul, Mofizul Islam Rumi, Harunur Rashid, Shah Shahidul Haque, Faruk Hossain Majumdar, Dr. Enamul Haque, Naeem Tutul, Hasan Jilani, and Riju Mohammed were also present.
